Built for the North

Southern phone companies design for southern offices.

A phone system for Yellowknife, Inuvik, Iqaluit or a camp on the winter road has to survive things a Calgary office never thinks about. CasConnect was designed around them.

Nothing waits on freight

When a phone box in the closet dies, the replacement part ships from the south and arrives weeks later. With CasConnect there is no box. The system runs in our data centre and a failed handset is swapped, not diagnosed.

Works with the internet you have

Every deployment starts with a look at your actual connection, and we make voice the priority on your network so a large download never chops up a call. If your link is marginal, we say so before you sign.

No IT department required

Most Northern organizations have one person who "does the computers" on top of another job. Moves, adds, changes and call menu edits are handled by the CasCom helpdesk, or done by you in a browser in minutes.

What changes on day one

Same number. Same phones on the desk. Different everything behind them.

Your callers will not notice a thing, except that calls sound cleaner. Here is what you will notice.

  • The office phone rings wherever you are. Desk phone, laptop and mobile ring together, and you can move a live call from one to another.
  • Long distance stops being a line item. Every call across Canada and the US is included, so the Edmonton supplier and the Ottawa funder cost the same as the shop next door.
  • Voicemail shows up in your email with a transcript, so you can read it in a meeting and call back from the airport.
  • One bill, one number to call. The people who set up your phones are the people who answer when you need help.

CasConnect is the voice and telecom line of CasCom Ltd., a managed technology provider in Yellowknife since 1996.

Features

Everything a business phone should do, on one keypad.

No tiers of add-ons to decode. These are the tools most Northern offices use every day, and they are included in Pro. Essentials covers the basics for teams that mostly need reliable lines.

Unlimited Canada + US calling

No long-distance charges and no usage caps on any plan.

Mobile and computer apps

Turn any laptop or phone into your office extension. Same number, same voicemail, anywhere with internet. Included with Enhanced and above.

Call menus you can edit

Press 1 for bookings, 2 for accounts. Change the greeting for a long weekend yourself, in a browser, in two minutes.

Ring groups and queues

Ring the whole front desk at once, or line callers up fairly for a busy support team.

Voicemail to email

Every message arrives in your inbox as audio plus a written transcript.

Call recording

Keep a record for training, disputes or compliance, stored securely and easy to find later.

Reports that make sense

How many calls came in, how long people waited, which ones you missed. Enough to staff the phones properly, no spreadsheet needed.

Conference calling

Get the board, the contractor and the funder on one call without a separate conferencing bill.

Numbers you keep

Bring the numbers your customers already know, and add local numbers for new sites or staff whenever you need them.

Every plan includes 911 registration for every phone, including staff at remote sites. Ask us for the CasConnect 911 information sheet before you sign with anyone.

Who uses it

From the front desk to the haul road.

Offices and organizations

Government, professional and Indigenous organizations

Reliable lines for teams that live on the phone. Transfers, hold, paging and shared lines that work the way staff expect, with nothing to maintain on site.

Hospitality and clinics

Front desks that cannot miss a call

A call menu covers after hours and holidays. When the desk steps away, calls roll to a mobile app instead of voicemail, so the booking still gets made.

Mining, construction and remote sites

Camps and satellite offices

A site trailer on satellite internet gets the same extension as head office. Staff rotate in and out, the number stays, and the main line reaches them wherever they are.

Switching

From signed quote to first call in three steps.

Your old phones keep working right up to the moment we switch, and the switch itself happens after hours.

We look before we quote

Current phones, numbers, internet and how calls actually move through your office. Then a quote in plain language, with nothing hidden in the footnotes.

We build it in the background

Phones and apps configured, call menus recorded, every phone registered for 911, and the number transfer filed with your current provider.

We switch after hours and stay on the line

Numbers move overnight, staff get a short walkthrough in the morning, and the Yellowknife helpdesk is on call from the first ring.

Pricing

Per user, per month. Nothing hidden.

Every plan includes unlimited Canada and US calling, moving your existing numbers, 911 registration and the CasCom helpdesk. Mix plans across your team: reception on Pro, back office on Essentials.

FAQ

Straight answers before you sign.

Anything else, email helpdesk@cascom.ca or call +1-867-765-2020. A person in Yellowknife answers.

Do we need to buy new phones?

Usually not. Most desk phones bought in the last several years work with CasConnect, and on Enhanced and above staff can use the computer or mobile app instead of a handset. We confirm what you can keep during the assessment and quote replacements only where needed.

Can we keep our phone numbers?

Yes. We handle the transfer with your current phone company and move the numbers after hours. Your old phones keep working until the moment the switch happens.

What happens if our internet goes down?

Your phone system keeps running in our data centre, so voicemail and call menus still answer. Calls can be set to forward to mobile phones automatically when the office connection drops, and on Enhanced and above the main line keeps reaching staff through the mobile app on cellular data.

Can I use it from my own cell phone?

Yes, on Enhanced and above. The mobile app puts your office extension on your personal phone. Calls show your business number, not your personal one, and you can switch the app off at the end of the day.

How does 911 work on CasConnect?

Every phone is registered with the address where it sits, so dispatchers know where to send help. We update registrations when staff or sites move, and it is worth telling us when someone works from home for a stretch. Ask for the CasConnect 911 information sheet before you sign with us or anyone else.

How long does switching take?

Typically two to three weeks from signed quote to first call, most of it waiting on your current provider to release the numbers. Your existing phones keep working the whole time.

Who do we call when something goes wrong?

The CasCom helpdesk in Yellowknife, at helpdesk@cascom.ca or +1-867-765-2020. The team that set up your phones is the team that supports them. No ticket queue in another time zone.

911 on CasConnect works differently than on a traditional phone line. You must be able to tell the operator your location, and 911 will not work during a power or internet outage. Read the CasConnect 911 information page before signing up.
